Interim Minister of Youth and Recreation
Conn was born in Lubbock and grew up an Air Force brat, toted around by his fighter pilot dad to 13 bases in three countries through the first 16 years of his life. Tired of moving, he came back to Texas to finish up school. Through the consistent witness and love of his best friend, he was saved at FBC Midland his senior year. The youth group and ministry leaders there were pivotal in showing him the love and grace of God.
Conn comes to the Youth and Recreation Minister position after spending 18 years as a drug and alcohol abuse counselor, and another 18 years in outdoor education and summer camps. Throughout both careers, Conn has been heavily involved in youth leadership and music ministries in the churches he’s attended. He is passionate about both ministries and believes serving the youth is one of the most important things he can do to faithfully serve God.
Conn’s work with youth over his professional career has helped him keep a fresh and enthusiastic approach to life. He believes that serving Christ is an adventure, and he loves to show others how to experience that adventure.
Conn is married to Tonya, has two grown sons, Chad and Frankie, and a German Shepherd named Kirche.
With my God I can scale a wall. Psalm 18:29
