How it all started...
On July 28, 1921 a Baptist church of eleven members was organized as a result of the sustained efforts of Rev. L.H. Billings. Billings tried for 10 years to find financial support to build a permanent location. He resigned in 1930 in ill health.
In the spring of 1931, Dr. John A. Held led a revival in Fredericksburg and on May 3rd eighteen people banded together to reconstitute the church. Rev. F.W. Bartel was called as pastor for the Fredericksburg and Boerne churches with the State Mission Board providing most of the financial support for both churches. In August of 1931, with the members providing most of the work and buying their own pews, the congregation moved into its first home. Rev. F.E. Kirchner became pastor in the fall of 1935 and ministered to the Fredericksburg, Boerne, and Comfort churches.

Expanding the vision...
Since those early days First Baptist has grown into one of the largest and most active churches in Fredericksburg. Our large campus includes a Worship Center, extensive rooms for Bible study, a Fellowship Hall and kitchen, a full gymnasium with a pickleball court, and fields for outdoor sports. We offer numerous community activities open to everyone. But through it all, our mission has remained -- reaching people for Jesus
Where we are headed...
Internally, we have continued to modernize our facilities to provide additional activities that support our community. Externally, we are adding new programs to involve anyone in our area in safe, family-friendly, Christian activities: sports for kids, parents' day out, Hallelujah Harvest, AWANAs, youth programs, and more. We want everyone to enjoy the blessings of being a part of God's Family.

Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to study the Bible in small groups at 9:15 and worship together at 10:30am
